Paws for the Cause

CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE. PAWS for the CAUSE is the first annual fund raiser for the Children of Breast Cancer Foundation®, begun this year by local news anchor MaryEllen Locher. The fund provides college scholarships to students who have lost a parent to breast cancer, and is expected to award two local scholarships for the upcoming winter semester, and ten more scholarships nationally on Mother's Day, 2003.

PAWS for the CAUSE is being held on Saturday, October 26, at the Greenway Farm in Hixson at 1:30 p.m. There are many prizes and treats for the children and dogs that participate in the event. There are also contests for Best Dressed Dog, Ugliest Dog, Dog & Owner Look-Alike Contest, and a Grand Prize for the child and dog that raise the most money in sponsorships.

Local sponsors include Hutcheson Auxiliary Breast Services, Mayfield Dairies, the Center for Sports Medicine & Orthopedics and many more. J103 will have a Live Remote Broadcast at the event, and the contemporary Christian band, Separate Peace will provide additional entertainment.
