After reviewing dozens of deserving students whose families have suffered the tragedy of breast cancer, the Children of Breast Cancer Selection Committee is proud to present a minimum $1000.00 scholarship for each student to be applied towards his or her college education tuition for the 2003-2004 school year. This group of 13 students joins the first scholarship recipient, Ginny Straub of Chattanooga, Tennessee, as the first class of students whom this unique scholarship program will assist with higher education.

The Children of Breast Cancer Scholarship Fund is designed to lift the financial and emotional burden faced by a growing number of children in our country who have lost a parent to breast cancer, or are children of breast cancer survivors.

The intent of these scholarships is to acknowledge the trauma these children experienced through their parents' illness, honor the memory of a deceased parent, and address the financial stress placed on these families due to medical expenses and/or loss of income. It also serves to encourage these children in creating the best future possible for themselves, and to
encourage cancer risk education in young adult students.

The Children of Breast Cancer Scholarship Fund is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All gifts to the Children of Breast Cancer Foundation® are tax deductible. Checks should be made payable to Children of Breast Cancer Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 4032 Chattanooga, TN 37405

Applicant's Words:

"I have tried to adjust to being the mom of my household. Every morning I get my 6-year-old sister and 10- year- old brother ready for school to catch the bus. I have adjusted to putting others' needs before my own. This is one of the many valuable characteristics which my mother taught me."
